Daily Meditation - Serving the World and a Request

To the readers of Silent Insight:

As many of you know, I felt a strong call in November of 2007 to make a depository of the "best of the best" spiritual insights that I had obtained via silent retreats, priests, family and friends.

The notes from subscribers have truly been heartwarming and much appreciated. In these seven or so years, I have always handled the financial commitment of the website. Your incredible notes have been worth every penny.

Now, in June 2015, I'm embarking on another spiritual adventure and that is a Father/Son mission trip to serve in the shanty towns in Peru. My oldest son, Kevin, is turning 15 and heading off to high school in the fall. He is also the one who seven years ago was the source of one SilentInsight meditation that is perhaps my favorite.  This was directly from Kevin's mouth at 8 yrs of age.

"I have a dream and that dream is to change the world. And I don't want there to be mean people. And the way I'm going to make that happen is to be nice to them."  - Kevin Brown (2008 - 8yr. old)

I mention this because we would like to ask for your prayers and financial support for the shanty town mission trip to Peru in June. We will be posting updates as we go on Silent Insight. Any amount is greatly appreciated. The link below allows for one to easily make a donation.  There is also a place to put your prayer intentions as we will pray for them during daily Mass while we are in Peru

Click the "Available Payments / Gifts" and select "Peru Fundraising". Also, please indicate in the Optional section - "Brian Brown / Kevin Brown" and any prayer intentions.

When your credit card is charged, it will indicate "GTCC" or "Georgia Tech Catholic Center" as this mission trip is being led by Fr. Josh Allen, the chaplin of the Georgia Tech Catholic Center in Atlanta.

Thank you and God Bless to each of you!

Daily Meditation – Consecrated in Truth

They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.

Daily Meditation – Speak Lord

During the time young Samuel was minister to the LORD under Eli, a revelation of the LORD was uncommon and vision infrequent. One day Eli was asleep in his usual place. His eyes had lately grown so weak that he could not see. The lamp of God was not yet extinguished, and Samuel was sleeping in the temple of the LORD where the ark of God was. The LORD called to Samuel, who answered, "Here I am."

He ran to Eli and said, "Here I am. You called me." "I did not call you," Eli said. "Go back to sleep." So he went back to sleep. Again the LORD called Samuel, who rose and went to Eli. "Here I am," he said. "You called me." But he answered, "I did not call you, my son. Go back to sleep." At that time Samuel was not familiar with the LORD, because the LORD had not revealed anything to him as yet. The LORD called Samuel again, for the third time. Getting up and going to Eli, he said, "Here I am. You called me." Then Eli understood that the LORD was calling the youth. So he said to Samuel, "Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.'" When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the LORD came and revealed his presence, calling out as before, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel answered, "Speak, for your servant is listening."

Daily Meditation – Manifestation of the Spirit

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes

Daily Meditation – Psalm 86 – A Prayer in Time of Distress

A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and oppressed. Preserve my life, for I am loyal; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; pity me, Lord; to you I call all the day. Gladden the soul of your servant; to you, Lord, I lift up my soul. Lord, you are kind and forgiving, most loving to all who call on you. LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my cry for help. In this time of trouble I call, for you will answer me. None among the gods can equal you, O Lord; nor can their deeds compare to yours. All the nations you have made shall come to bow before you, Lord, and give honor to your name. For you are great and do wondrous deeds; and you alone are God. Teach me, LORD, your way that I may walk in your truth, single-hearted and revering your name. I will praise you with all my heart, glorify your name forever, Lord my God. Your love for me is great; you have rescued me from the depths of Sheol. O God, the arrogant have risen against me; a ruthless band has sought my life; to you they pay no heed. But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, most loving and true. Turn to me, have pity on me; give your strength to your servant; save this child of your handmaid. Give me a sign of your favor: make my enemies see, to their confusion, that you, LORD, help and comfort me.
