Daily Meditation – The Presence of God

God is at the core. Consider the following: “God remains present at every moment to every creature.”

Daily Meditation - Power of Prayer

Jesus said to them in reply, "Have faith in God. Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. When you stand to pray, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance, so that your heavenly Father may in turn forgive you your transgressions." (Mark 11:23-25)

Daily Meditation – A Great Start to the Day!

Here is a simple morning prayer plan.

A Morning Offering

Lord, through the intercession of Mary, Joseph, and all the angels and saints, I offer you today all my prayers, desires, works, joys and sufferings.  May I faithfully seek your will as you envision and reveal it to me in the present moment circumstances of this day.  For through it, I will strive to accept each moment with gratitude and as a purposeful, precious gift from your hands.

Next, consider and meditate on the First Principle and Foundation from the introduction to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Man is created to praise, reverence, and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.

And the other things on the face of the earth are created for man and they may help him in prosecuting the end for which he is created.

From this it follows that man is to use them as much as they help him on to his end, and ought to rid himself of them so far as they hinder him as to it.

For this it is necessary to make ourselves indifferent to all created things in all that is allowed to the choice of our free will and is not prohibited to it; so that, on our part, we want not health rather than sickness, riches rather than poverty, honor rather than dishonor, long rather than short life, and so in all the rest; desiring and choosing only that which is most conducive for us to the end for which we are created.

Finally, seek protection throughout the day via the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in this day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and you, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
that roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Daily Meditation - Finding God

Of course we cannot bring about an experience of God through our own efforts. Such can only be given to us. It is sheer gift. But when we wait with open hands and undefended heart, God DOES come. We do experience God's presence. We have God's word on it.

"When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, you will find Me with you, says the Lord" (Jer 29:13-14).
