Daily Meditation – Road Ahead (Prayer Wisdom from Thomas Merton)

Daily Meditation – Road Ahead (Prayer Wisdom from Thomas Merton)

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone."

- Thomas Merton

Daily Meditation – Prayer Expectations

Pray - period!

Don't expect anything. Or better, expect nothing.

Prayer cleanses us of expectations and allows holy will, providence, and life itself an entry.

What could be more worth the effort or the non-effort?

- Thomas Moore

Daily Meditation – The Power of God and Prayer

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

- Matthew 7:7

Daily Meditation – Precious in God’s eyes

But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine. When you pass through the water, I will be with you; in the rivers you shall not drown. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned; the flames shall not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in return for you. Because you are precious in my eyes and glorious, and because I love you, I give men in return for you and peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; from the east I will bring back your descendants, from the west I will gather you.

- Isaiah 43:1-5

Daily Meditation - Simple Wisdom

"Smile, say less and listen more, pray, and trust in Me, your Heavenly Father." Such a simple message. It is simple yet profound. We talk about the need for things to change in this world. Smile three times more today than you did yesterday. Say three things less today than you did yesterday and listen to three more people. Pray for three minutes more today than you did yesterday. And trustingly surrender just three aspects of your life, great or small, to God who is your Father.

The world will begin to change when you begin to change.
