Daily Meditation - Making Room to Fly

Legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, Pat Summitt, passed away on 6/28/2016. As a 22 year old graduate assistant, she took over the head coaching duties and subsequently had a storied 38 year career which included eight national championships and a 1,098-208 (.840) record – the most ever in men’s or women’s Division I college basketball history.  (Consider that for a moment, the MOST EVER in men’s or women’s). She is considered one of the greatest motivators of student athletes to achieve their potential in athletics and beyond. In fact, several sportswriters have indicated that given a day, she could pick up football, baseball or any other sport and coach the athletes to incredible heights. She was that good. Though known for her coaching, the following is an insightful spiritual quote from her.

“God doesn’t take things away to be cruel. He takes things away to make room for other things. He takes things away to lighten us. He takes things away so we can fly.”
- Pat Summitt
